Slow response to water leak
The leak also damaged the rest of the already badly maintained municipal road.
POOR response time from Ugu District Municipality resulted in hundreds of litres of water being wasted in Hibberdene last week.
To make matters worse, the repair job is also substandard.
Ugu was contacted last Thursday regarding a water pipe that had burst behind Hibberdene SuperSpar sometime on Wednesday night.
The caller was informed by the person on the phone that the call would be logged and a technician would be along the next day (Thursday) to do the necessary repairs.
The technician never arrived and not only was a huge amount of water was lost, but the leak damaged the rest of the already badly maintained municipal road.
Ugu spokesman, France Zama, confirmed that the leak was repaired on Friday.
“In these times when water is so scarce, can we really have a municipality that does not care enough to act fast?” asked the concerned reader.
