PORT Shepstone High attended a gala evening at Halfway Toyota, Shelly Beach, recently. Dealer principal Brian Jones and sales director Stephen Jones presented each player with a full rugby kit. Halfway Toyota has been a loyal sponsor and supporter of the school’s first and U16 rugby teams for a phenomenal 28 years.
The first rugby team played against Creston College last Saturday. The first half of the match got off to a slow start and in the second half, Sheppie High were awarded two penalties, which extended their lead. In the last minute of the game, Scott Davey picked up a loose ball and ran the entire field to score the most exciting try of the match. Spectators were on their feet as Creston players chased him down, but Scott made it over the try line in spectacular form. The conversion was successful and the final score was 16-5 to PSHS.
