PSHS matric pupils were given a life orientation assignment on social issues in society with topics that included racism, xenophobia and discrimination. They conducted a campaign last week through various mediums available to them within school grounds, which culminated in the group marching onto the sports field at the end of the week, displaying banners and singing the national anthem.
The annual gr 12 geography tour to Durban took place recently and pupils visited the Cato Manor informal settlement, Siceluthando Educare Centre, the Seaboard Hotel and the Pavillion Shopping Centre. The informative Morningside excursion was followed by a cruise around the harbour and ended with fun, falling and friendship-forging ice-skating at the Galleria Ice Rink. The tour ended way too soon for many pupils who gained some valuable insight into issues of urban settlement, renewal, decay, as well as many other parts of the syllabus.
