(Sand)storm in a teacup
Residents are worried about sandy water they say they received from an Ugu relief tanker.
RESIDENTS in some parts of Ramsgate have raised concerns about water supplied by Ugu relief tankers; this after they have had to go on without water for days.
They have questioned the quality of the water and whether or not it was really safe for them to drink.
One resident claims that when she boiled water she collected from the tanker, traces of sand were left in her pots.
Ugu spokesman, France Zama, said they had not received any such complaints. He pointed out that areas with supply interruptions were only on the borders of Ramsgate and Elgin Road, Margate, as a result of a burst pipe.
“Technicians have been deployed to the site and are working to repair the pipe. Normal supply is expected to resume soon,” he said.
