ISLAMIC School has enjoyed a busy and fun-filled fortnight. Gr 9 pupils have adopted Genesis Care Centre as part of their social responsibility projects for 2016. Representative Sharon Jones explained the facilities and services offered at Genesis and pupils interacted with patients, which was an emotionally and educationally uplifting experience.
Two U11 girls’ teams drew at the winter sports day held at PSSP last Saturday. the U13 boys put their soccer skills to the test at a ‘professional’ tournament and although unplaced, they benefited from the experience. The challenging AMS provincial Astro tournament event was held in Durban and served as an interesting experience for the school’s Astro teams. Pitched against many teams from around KZN, the boys have resolved that with more focused training they could feature successfully in future events.
The annual school sports day will be held at Marburg Secondary on May 29. Girls’ sports kicks off at 8am, followed by the boys’ events. A fully-equipped canteen will be available.
