Jai Hind pays homage to the youth

The day ended with the hoisting of the South African flag and the singing of the national anthem.

JAI Hind Primary staff and pupils celebrated last week’s Youth Day with a well-coordinated event in the assembly area. Pupils delivered dynamic speeches highlighting the Soweto uprising 40 years ago. Songs, sketches and cultural dances by talented pupils celebrated the power of the youth and commemorated those who lost their lives in the struggle to make South Africa a better place for all generations in the future. Performances by pupils paid homage to the youth of 1976. The day ended with the hoisting of the South African flag and the singing of the national anthem.

The school welcomes substitute teachers Natasha Singh and Michelle Michaels, who are helping out while Nikita Praimlall and Terrisha Harripersad are on maternity leave.
