Dry spell continues

Please use water sparingly.

THE level of the Bhobhoyi off-storage dam recently caught the attention of a Herald reader who felt it was important to highlight the urgency to save every last drop of water.

We can put up with the potholes but we can’t do without this vital resource,- Herald reader.

France Zama, spokesman for Ugu District Municipality, said that as there had been minimal rain, drought challenges continued and back-up systems such as the Bhobhoyi off-storage dam were slowly building capacity of back-up supply for cases where the drought intensified further.

It is common knowledge that many parts of South Africa are experiencing severe drought – with the Ugu District being one such area.

“We therefore continue to appeal to all responsible citizens to adhere to these requests to conserve water and ensure its continued availability for human consumption by adjusting their consumption patterns,” said Mr Zama.
