BLOW the whistle on illegal dumpers anywhere on the coast and the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has promised to throw the book at the culprits.
Izotsha Road in particular is a stinking point with piles of food waste, used nappies, paper and housing rubble making a ‘hideous appearance’.
Residents of Izotsha and motorists are disgusted by the filthy state of the area, which is not only an eyesore, but a health hazard as well.
The stench in parts is appalling.
One resident said: “I have no idea what kind of sick people dump rubbish on the side of the road like that. People have no care for the environment whatsoever.
“I can’t believe that no-one has seen people doing the dumping. Some of the rubbish is even neatly stashed in municipal plastic bags.”
Another resident said that until the municipality dealt harshly with the culprits, they would carry on regardless.
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality spokesman Simon April agreed and promised that the municipality’s community services department would send a team to attend to the trash as soon as possible.
He also warned people caught dumping that they would face the full might of the law.
“Anyone found dumping illegally will be prosecuted. Illegal dumping puts the lives of other people at risk as these illegal dumping spots are not secured.”
He urged people to respect each other and the environment.
