PORT Shepstone High held a blood donor clinic recently and 110 pupils donated. The final collection was 75 pints of blood. The school holds four blood donor clinics per year and it is encouraging to see young pupils so eager to make a difference.
At an athletics meeting held at Michaelhouse recently, Jason Olivier and Caitlyn Schlehmeyer were the best performers. Jason won the javelin, discus and shot put events in the U19 category and also received a medal for best boys’ thrower.
Caitlyn dominated the girls’ middle distances to win the 400, 800 and 1500m events, which is a new meeting record. Also doing well on the day were Emihle Madikizela, who won the boys’ U16 800 and 1500m events and Kathleen Goodhead, who won the girls’ U16 800 and 1500m events. Alu Mbewana achieved a winning distance of 5.74m in the boys’ U17 long jump.
