PORT Shepstone Islamic School took part in the AMS Provincial Speech Contest held in Durban last weekend. Gr 10 pupils Zaeem Ebrahim and Umar Farook Desai placed second and third respectively. Both speakers were confident and eloquent and kept the audience enthralled. Barira and Humairah Khan did not place, but proved strong competitors.
The open and U17 girls’ volleyball teams took part in a volleyball tournament held in Pietermaritzburg. The U17 girls reached the semi-finals by winning three out of five matches.
The school received four silver awards at the recent De Beers English Olympiad. Pupils who took part had the opportunity to express valuable opinions and write critically. Ahmad Musa (gr 11), Hameedah Rawat (gr 12), Faatimah Musa (gr 10) and Mariam Nakhooda (gr 10) were awarded silver certificates.
