Trafalgar pensioner beaten, stabbed and bound
He was stabbed with his own kitchen knife.
AN elderly man was surprised by three intruders in his Effingham Parade, Trafalgar home last Thursday night.
They slapped the 77-year-old about, hit him with a spanner, stabbed him with his own kitchen knife and then tied him up with a belt.
How they gained entry to the house is still being investigated as all the doors were locked at the time.
Margate police arrested two men on Tuesday this week.
“The intruders demanded firearms,” said police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka. “When the pensioner said he did not have any, the men assaulted him with a wheel spanner. They then took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in the left hand. He was also beaten on his back.”
The robbers pushed the man into his bedroom where he was forced to open a safe.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.
