HIBBERDENE Academy hosted the 2016 valedictory service for the matric class of 2016 last Friday morning.
Rod Gauld was the master of ceremonies and Hayford Tetteh delivered the reading and blessing.
Head boy Sibonelo Msabala and head girl Kiara Crocker reminisced about their time at the academy and Skye Labuschagne received the academy’s prestigious honour, the Fellowship Award.
Thabiso Gumbi and Hesitate Mbhele gave crowd-pleasing accounts of their school careers. Principal Brian Algie offered some wise words and inspiring musical pieces and matric pupils’ mothers and ‘surrogate mom’ to matrics, Sue Powell, were thanked with a bouquet of proteas.
Entrepreneurs’ Day takes place this Saturday (22nd) from 8.30am to 12.30pm to raise funds for the academy.
There will be many stalls, a jumping castle and 1km and 3km fun runs, with great prizes. Tasty homemade food such as hamburgers, cupcakes and puddings will be on sale and your favourite song may be requested from the deejay for a mere R5.
Members of the public wishing to hire a stall for R150 should contact Jeanette Veldman at 039 6993611.
