Golfing agreement to be signed
The municipality will officially sign an agreement with Margate Country Club on Friday, November 4.
GOOD NEWS for sporty youngsters – Ray Nkonyeni Municipality will be investing R250 000 to assist in training young golfers.
Mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu, announced the news at a press briefing at the municipality’s council chambers on Tuesday this week.
The municipality will officially sign an agreement with Margate Country Club on Friday, November 4.
Speaking at the briefing, Cllr Mqwebu said about 10 young people were currently receiving coaching under the auspices of the club.
She added that the municipality hoped to increase the number to 50 to accommodate all seven clusters.
“This agreement will ensure that skills will be developed continuously in order to attain professional golfing status and to ensure the promotion of golf among young boys and girls from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.”
They will also be assisted with obtaining the necessary equipment.
