Sewage again flows into Mzimkhulu river

The raw sewage flowing into the river was apparently caused by a blockage.

A LOCAL fisherman alerted the South Coast Herald to raw sewage flowing into the uMzimkhulu river last week.

Sewage was seen flowing some 15 metres from the Mzimkhulu river bridge.

Ugu District Municipality was contacted and a team of technicians was sent out.

“Technicians were deployed to the area in question, where a blockage was discovered at the Port Shepstone number one pump station,” said Ugu spokesman France Zama.

He said the blockage was cleaared the same day and thereafter a clean-up process was implemented.

Last year the Herald had also been called after sewage was seen flowing from three different spots along the river.
