Spreading Christmas cheer at Murchison Hospital’s children’s ward

This year's 'Backpack Drive' brought joy to children spending Christmas in hospital.

FATHER Christmas, together with his helpers (the staff of Murchison Hospital’s rehabilitation department) gave backpacks filled with goodies to some of the hospital’s young patients in the inpatient and paediatric outpatient departments last Friday.

The staff, with the help of their family and friends, collected 60 bags for this year’s ‘Backpack Drive’ for children who were spending the Christmas weekend in hospital. Last year, the staff collected 56 backpacks.  Inside the backpacks are a colouring book, crayons, face cloth, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush and a toy.

“We work with these children everyday, so it is nice to do something for them for the festive season,” said Jenusha Balmith of the department.
