South African actress and model Asavela Mqokiyana is infamously making headlines after her arrest on the KZN mid-South Coast.
On October 19, she was arrested by Park Rynie RTI for speeding along the N2 near Ellingham. Reports indicate that she was driving a BMW X3 SUV and caught clocking a speed of 198km/h in a 120 km/h zone.
The case is ongoing in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.
The KZN Department of Transport issues a stern warning to all motorists that the #NenzaniLaEzweni Operation is still in full swing, and that no one is above the law.
For the period October 15 to 21, both RTI and Operation Shanela teams have executed the following operations:
● 421 speeding charges.
● 12 073 vehicles stopped.
● 1 719 motorists charged.
● 87 motorists charged for driving without driver’s licenses.
● 141 motorists charged for not wearing seatbelts.
● 112 unlicensed vehicles.
● 140 vehicles impounded as they had no permits.
