Port Shepstone's Raam Narayan Mandir celebrates Navaratri festival

Each evening of the nine-day festival featured enlightening discourses by Punditji Piyush Misra.

The Shree Raam Narayan Mandir in Port Shepstone came alive with deep devotion and vibrant energy during the auspicious Navaratri festival, celebrated recently.

Each evening featured enlightening discourses by Punditji Piyush Misra and soul-stirring bhajans by Vernon Govender, the Sai Bhajan Group, SS Productions, Paul Kalicharan, and Sheppie Nagara Showband.

Devotees also joined in energetic garba dancing to honour the Divine Mother. Active youth offered a special prayer to Mother Saraswati, bringing their books to be blessed by Punditji before their final examinations began.

The nine forms of the Divine Mother and her protector, Dee baba, were honoured through a special programme known as Kanya pooja. Programme Director Kajal Mevalal shared a profound message, reminding devotees that true worship means conquering inner demons and committing to overcome at least one negative trait by Vijayadashami.

Following the services, devotees enjoyed prasadh and mahaprasadh daily, generously sponsored by local community members. The Board of Management and Trustees extend heartfelt thanks to the Port Shepstone community for their steadfast support and devotion throughout Navaratri.
