EXCLUSIVE TO PRINT – Water! Facts without the emotion

For an unemotional investigation into the South Coast's festive season water crisis, buy the Herald tomorrow.

THE hundreds of posts on social media are understandable after many suffered through the festive season with hardly a ‘drip’ of water coming from their taps.

Anger (not water) overflowed with people looking for scapegoats and demanding that heads should roll.

There are now also fears that the coast’s economy suffered and will continue to do so with holiday people vowing never to return.

Subsequently, the Herald editorial team has gone out of its way to sift through the emotions and gather the facts so that level-headed readers can draw their own conclusions.

We have spoken to Ugu Municipal Manager DD Naidoo and his senior officials, the SAPS, Ugu South Coast Tourism, letting agents, holiday places in affected areas and ratepayer organisations.

We have purposely avoided speaking to councillors (not because we wish to detract from their efforts in any way), but because it is not our place to support or oppose any political party in this issue.

A lot of work has gone into this investigation  and, hopefully, it will put the crisis into perspective for everyone.
