Izotsha Primary's sports stars applauded
Learners took part in cross-country, chess, and cycling.
At Izotsha Primary, sports practices began last week, albeit some took place in the hall/classrooms due to the inclement weather.
The Foundation Phase and Intermediate and Senior Phase learners participated in an inter-school cross-country event hosted by Creston College recently. Several runners did exceptionally well. Top-ranked athletes are as follows: Enzo Langazane, third position (U8 boy), Angus Bunge, first position (U9 boy), Elkanah Kikweta, second position (U9 boy), Sophia Jenkins, second position (U7 girl), Mikaila Nadauld, third position (U8 girl), and Nikita Wiles, first position (U9 girl).
Chess is a growing sport at the school. Izotsha is proud of Abigail Rush, who achieved fourth position in the KZN Chess Trials. The Ugu Chess Club Development League took place at Port Shepstone High. The A team achieved first position and the B team second position.
Some of the cyclists participated in the Eston Illovo Cycling event over the weekend. Angus Bunge is to be congratulated on achieving first position in the nippers category. Added to this, he came 14th overall.
Congratulations to Sithenkosi Mbebe and Zara Moodley who were announced as cross-country captains for the season.
Academic achievement awards were handed out at assembly a week ago.
The “Fill a Bucket” campaign is fully underway, with each grade contributing an item to fill the buckets, as an outreach project to help others.
