LATEST: Public prosecutor to decide on contaminated lagoon

A case has been opened under the National Water Act .

A SEARCH above Uvongo falls by ward councillor George Henderson and his colleagues revealed at least two sources where raw sewage probably flowed into the river system and the lagoon over the festive season, possibly causing hundreds to fall violently ill.

The Herald since confirmed that a case has been opened at Margate SAPS by the DA under the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1988) Section 151.

Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka said the docket had been sent to the senior public prosecutor for a decision.
