Free blood pressure tests next Friday

MediRite pharmacies will be offering free blood pressure tests on Friday, February 17, in support of Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Day on Sunday, 19 February 2017.

HIGH blood pressure or hypertension is known as a ‘silent killer’ because there are no obvious warning signs.

“The only way to know if you are at risk is to have your blood pressure measured,” explains Dr Michael Mol, head of Hello Doctor.

“High blood pressure is also known as a chronic or non-communicable disease. They are called chronic because they develop over a long period, mostly due to continued exposure to an unhealthy lifestyle,” Dr Mol continues.

The good news is that blood pressure tests are quick and minimally invasive, yet have the potential to save lives.

The free blood pressure tests are available at the 146 MediRite pharmacies conveniently located in Checkers and Shoprite supermarkets across South Africa on Friday, February 17.
