The snake must have been in a 'fowl' mood after being removed from the poultry farm.

SNAKE catcher Sarel van der Merwe from Pure Venom Reptile Park, has saved the day yet again.

This time, Sarel was called to Riversmead Poultry Farm in Izotsha to prevent a ‘big green’ from enjoying a tasty egg or perhaps even a baby chick.

The mamba, measuring 2.5 metres, was first seen slithering across the road before scaling a tree.

Martie Schutte of Riversmead Poultry Farm said Sarel answered her call immediately and arrived in 10 minutes.

“He was very helpful, professional and entertaining to watch,” she added.

By now a large crowd had gathered to watch Sarel retrieve the snake from the tree.

“It moved from branch to branch before I was able to catch it,” he said.
