Young sand sculptors learn some valuable lessons from Ramsgate Conservancy competition

Ramsgate Conservancy hosted the children's competition

RAMSGATE Conservancy members wanted to teach young beachgoers to care for the ocean so instead of asking them to build sandcastles they asked the competitors to create sculptures that related to the marine environment.

The judges were most impressed with the turtles, sharks and even starfish that were created out of sand.

First prize went to a young visitor from Bryanston, Eran Pot (8) and her sister, Dayna (10), received one of the runner-up prizes. The best sculptors received vouchers from the Waffle House.

Ramsgate Conservancy is a dynamic organisation that has many exciting projects on the go, including awareness programmes, like the sand sculpture competition, for young future conservationists.

It always welcomes new members.
