The Umtamvuna Marine Conservancy (UMC) took its weekly Hands-on Tuesday environmental initiative beyond its usual working area last week, with volunteers tackling litter along a route leading to the Watsonias.

UMC also thanked members of the Tree Walker group, who helped by removing several large plastic bottles.

The weekly initiative encourages residents to give their time to help care for the local environment, whether for an hour or an entire morning.

In recent months, volunteers have tended indigenous plants at the 7th/8th Street junction and maintained the rewilding area at Granny’s Pool – among many other great achievements in the area.

UMC chairperson Renée Alcock thanked residents for their continued support and encouraged more people to get involved.
