The ‘tooth is told’ at PSIS

Ten teachers are taking part in the ACK programme under the mentorship of Dr Kitshoff.

LAST Friday the ‘tooth was told’ to Port Shepstone Islamic School pupils when oral hygienist Amy D’Arcy addressed pupils about proactive dental hygiene.

Advice on correct brushing techniques, flossing and healthy eating habits were discussed with grades 1 to 6 and each pupil was rewarded with a gift pack containing a toothbrush, toothpaste and an informative booklet.

Mrs D’Arcy also advised pupils on careers in dentistry and allied fields.

“The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice” is one of the philosophies of the Amazing Confidence Kids (ACK) programme conducted by clinical psychologist Dr Peter Kitshoff.

Ten teachers are taking part in the ACK programme under the mentorship of Dr Kitshoff. The aim of this programme is to empower teachers so that pupils can develop a positive self-esteem.

The modalities utilised are creative art, moral storytelling and natural photography and the programme will continue into the third term.
