EXCELLENT investigations by Detective Sergeant Shaun Pillay of Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit have resulted in two successful convictions and sentencing.
On September 28, 2014, two children from the Bombo area in Msinsini were assaulted and raped. A 31-year-old man known to them hit the 14-year-old boy on the head with a bottle before raping the 13-year-old girl.

The incident was reported to family and police and the suspect was arrested.
Thuleboni Dingani Nzoyi appeared in the Scottburgh Regional Court and was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and nine months for the assault on the boy.
In another case Det/Sgt Pillay was investigating, a five-year-old girl from the Qoloqolo area in Msinsini was raped by a man (50) in March 2015 when she was lured to his house.
Bongeni Mpinga was sentenced on July 31 to 10 years’ imprisonment by the Scottburgh Regional Court.
