SCOTTBURGH AND Umzinto SAPS, along with Crime Intelligence, had a successful Friday morning, recovering a considerable amount of what seems to be stolen property.

To the alleged burglars’ surprise, they were stopped by Detective Sergeant Blessing Ngcobo and Detective Constables Bonginkosi Chiliza and Charity Radebe of the Umzinto SAPS near the Beneva school in Malangeni.

The four occupants in the vehicle, aged between 32 and 36 years, were unable to give a reasonable account for the large quantity of property they were transporting.

They were arrested on suspicion of being in possession stolen property and taken to the Umzinto SAPS, where they were detained pending their first appearance in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on Monday which was postponed to August 30 for bail application.

Among the items recovered were a big screen plasma TV, assorted cutlery, various remote controls, binoculars, frozen food, shoes, clothing, suitcases, cellphones, bedding, an electric fryer, a wallet and a gas gun.

The property is still to be identified by the complainants in the burglary cases.

Further investigations indicate that the men are also wanted in Durban-registered cases.
