Update: Sheppie man caught at airport with suitcase containing R7-million back in court

Last year, Mr Motala was on his way to Dubai when he was apprehended by police following a tip-off that he was in possession of the huge sum of money.

HUSAIN Farouk Motala, (37) of Port Shepstone, who was arrested at King Shaka International Airport last year, allegedly with more than R7-million cash in his luggage, is expected to appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court again in October this year.

Natasha Kara, regional spokesman for the Director of Public Prosecutions, KwaZulu-Natal, said the case was postponed at the defence’s request as they intend to make representation to the state.

Last year, Mr Motala was on his way to Dubai when he was apprehended by police following a tip-off that he was in possession of the huge sum of money.

He had failed to disclose the money to customs officers at the airport. Mr Motala was released on R60 000 bail.
