Armed robbers sentenced to 40 years in jail for robbing church group

The choristers were held up at knife point.

TWO convicted robbers were sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment each by the Izingolweni Regional Court recently.

Mthembeni Kiri Bovana (36) and Sandile Msenti Ndlovu (38) committed the crime in October 2016, when they accosted a group of church choristers in Thuvukezi ward, Izingolweni and robbed them of their belongings and cash at knife point.

The stolen goods were recovered.

“We are thrilled that these criminals were sent to jail where they belong. The victims were local youngsters and did not deserve such trauma. Nor does any other crime victim,” said the KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major-General Bheki Langa.
