POLICE ARRESTED taxi commuter Bonginkosi Sdudlu, 30, for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at a road block near Scottburgh last Wednesday.
The taxi was heading to Durban from the Eastern Cape, when the vehicle was stopped by Scottburgh SAPS on the north-bound carriageway of the N2 freeway.
Sdudlu was found to be carrying a Taurus pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition when he was searched by Sergeant Senzo Colin Gwcwensa.

Allegedly the Sergeant noticed that Sdudlu was behaving suspiciously and “his policeman’s instincts compelled him to search the man.”
The firearm was seized as an exhibit, and Sdudlu was arrested and detained until his first appearance at Scottburgh Magistrates’ court on September 7.
Major General Sethenya Agnes Nxamagele, the Ugu Cluster Commander, commended Sergeant Gcwensa on his excellent work.
“Dedication and hard work always yield positive results.I am pleased that another firearm has been removed from our streets.
