LAST week’s beached whale at Oslo Beach received a lot of attention and masses of people went to the beach for different reasons. Some came purely to get food and others out of curiosity. A traditional healer harvested the teeth and when Kyle Solomon arrived on the scene, he was allowed a closer look.

Successful sales

The Muddy Boots car boot sale was a great success once again and thank goodness the weather played along. It was very hot and sunny at 8am and then the clouds brought welcome relief, but even though rain threatened, it held off.

Your scribe’s stand sold out of boerewors rolls and she was able to take two cinnamon rolls home for tea.

Sad situation

Residents woke up to service delivery protest action on Monday morning this week. The organisers are hurting workers who, most likely, will suffer a loss of earnings when they do not pitch up for work. Not to mention the damage caused to roads by burning of tyres.

It is advised by local security companies that people test alarms twice a month. Phone and advise the company that you are going to do the test and then hit the panic button or whatever you would normally do in an emergency situation. While Tweni has had a relatively quiet time crime-wise recently, you never know.

Security sign-on

Following her informative talk to the Friends of Southport Library last week, Ruth Prinsloo will be at Southport Library from 2 to 4pm today (Wednesday, 4th) to sign on new clients.

Mobi Claw is a security company whose control room is linked to members’ cellphones and their network of countrywide ‘First Responders’ react to emergency medical and criminal situations.

Ruth can be contacted at 076 4234182. The Friends of Southport Library will be holding their bi-monthly coffee morning on Saturday, October 7 at the library from 9 to 11am. Come along for a cup of tea or coffee as well as a piece of cake and a social chat. All are welcome.

Free counselling

Cilel Smith of the Wellbeing Centre advises that they offer support, free group counselling and discussion from 9 to 10am on a Thursday during the friendship group get-together. Weekly gathering

Port Shepstone Country Club’s social gathering on Friday evening was once again festive and busy with the popular, fun lucky draws. Do pop in for a drink, meet some new friends or catch up with some old ones.
