Tracking company arrests man found in possession of suspected stolen vehicle

A 9mm pistol loaded with one round of ammunition was also seized.

THANKS TO a local vehicle tracking company, a 40-year-old Kenterton man found in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and in the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, was arrested and appeared in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning.

The theft was reported at Bhekithemba SAPS by the owner, who stated that the vehicle had been parked at his neighbour’s house in Umlazi last Thursday for just five minutes when he heard it drive off and could no longer see it outside.

The vehicle was subsequently found outside a Kenterton house.

The two men from the vehicle tracking company, one an ex-policeman, arrested the man and also seized a 9mm pistol loaded with one round of ammunition that was found next to him.

The recovered vehicle, pistol and the suspect were handed over to Sawoti SAPS. He appeared in court and the case was postponed to November 8. The accused is to remain police custody.

“It is encouraging to see that many of our local security companies are also working closely with us in our fight against crime and together we can do it.”
