JUST IN: Man (57) arrested for allegedly raping three children

The suspect was assaulted by members of the community before his arrest.

A 57-year-old suspect is in hospital under police guard following his arrest for the alleged rape of three children, aged 9, 11 and 13 years.

He was apparently assaulted by members of the community before his arrest, and will  appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s  Court once he is discharged from hospital.

Police spokesman, Captain Vincent Pandarum said the victims, who live in the same neighbourhood as the suspect, were found at his home in Gamalakhe.

“On Saturday, November 4 at about 2pm, the parents, who were informed of the whereabouts of their children, stormed the suspect’s house where they found him naked with the children. Medical examinations revealed that two of the victims were sexually violated while the findings in respective of the third child were inconclusive,” said Captain Pandarum.

The case is being investigated by detectives of the Margate Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS).
