Women’s Institute executive member Ennette Visagie said every year the institute does a different thing as a Christmas party. “This year, Umtentweni Women’s Institute organised a fashion show. The previous year, Port Shepstone Women’s Institute organised the year-end function. These parties are a good way for us to reflect on what we have been through during the year as an institute and just have fun as ‘girls’,” she said.

The Umtentweni Women’s Institute falls under the Alfred Country Group, which also includes the Port Shepstone Women’s Institute, as well as the organisation that accommodates women who work during the day – Sirius Evening Women’s Institute.

One of the models, Sandy Collins, said, “It is unfortunate that this could be the last time we are doing a fashion show because I enjoyed every minute of it. I have never modelled before, so this is one experience I will never forget.”
