Scottburgh teen caught with heroin

The 19 year old was released on R500 bail.

Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court deals with many drug possession cases on a daily basis and the seriousness of these offences can’t be stressed enough.

Not too long ago, the Mail followed the case of a young drug addict who was arrested twice in one week for theft, which he claims was done to feed his drug habit.

He remains in custody pending his next appearance and the court has offered to help him fight his addiction once the case is concluded.

His next appearance will be on February 9 where he is expected to plead guilty to both offences.

Another case was that of a 19-year-old who was arrested for the possession of one capsule of heroin.

After opting for Legal Aid, the teenager was granted R500 bail and will appear again on February 20 after an analysis report.

A young woman was also in custody for the possession of one gram of dagga last Wednesday. She opted for Legal Aid and it was discovered that she is a first time offender. Seeing that she has had no previous convictions, is unemployed and has a child, the court dropped the case, cautioned and released her.
