Scottburgh SAPS arrested a 30-year-old man last Thursday at the Rocky Bay caravan park for being in the unlawful possession of a firearm.
Members of the Durban Public Order Police (POP) Projects Team searched the man’s home, where they found a pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition hidden under a pillow.

“He could not produce a valid firearm licence and the weapon was seized by police,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
The man was detained and appeared in court on Friday morning. Detective Constable Weidon Govender of the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Service is investigating the case.
