Scottburgh SAPS have warned ATM users to be alert after several fraudulent withdrawals were made from machines in the town last week.
Last Tuesday afternoon a Pennington resident was distracted while withdrawing cash from an ATM in Scott Street.

“Before the woman could cancel her card, withdrawals had already been made from another ATM in Scottburgh, and from one in Umkomaas,” said Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Vincent Pandarum.
Also on Tuesday, a 52-year-old Freeland Park man was targeted while withdrawing money from a different ATM in Scott Street.

He too was distracted by a stranger who tampered with the machine, and he subsequently discovered money had been withdrawn from his account.
Both victims lost significant sums of money, and two cases of fraud are being investigated by the Scottburgh SAPS Detective Services.
