Mr Mseleku was born in KwaMadlala near Umzumbe. He started his primary education at Denver Zoar Mission School in Umzumbe before going on to attend  Prince Ngamizizwe School. He matriculated from Sister Joan’s High School in 1993 and graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1997. He worked as a journalist for Durban Youth Radio before he joined SABC news.

He was also involved in community development in the Ugu District Municipality, responsible for rural areas. One of his biggest achievements was the pivotal role he played in the peace-making process in KwaMadlala. He also established an organisation called Imizamo kaCebo, which helped paint a clear picture of high school and tertiary education life.

Mr Mseleku said that his reality show Uthando Nes’thembu is actually an extension of his book. The wealthy businessman and his four wives gained immense popularity when their polygamy-themed reality show aired on DStv’s channel 161.

“I published my book ‘Life and Polygamy’ in 2013 to advise men and women on how to tackle this lifestyle. The book is even more beneficial to women as it explains the mindset of a man and how women should not fall into the trap of thinking they are inferior just because they form part of this kind of lifestyle,” he pointed out.

The life story of Mr Mseleku has been influential in his ‘Thanx Ma’ brand of clothing, that has become a pivotal part of his everyday life.

Mr Mseleku had a deep and meaningful relationship with his mother, Momathemba Joyce Mseleku and, shortly before her untimely death, thanked her for the phenomenal contribution she made to his life.
