Hibberdene Happenings: Len leaves a void that will be hard to fill
Both Len and Sue played a huge role in the Methodist Church in Hibberdene and deepest sympathy is extended to Sue and all the family.
HIBBERDENE’S community is extremely saddened by the death of Len Myburgh on Monday this week. Len and his wife Sue moved from Hibberdene to Umdoni Retirement Village in the latter half of last year and had not been gone long when Len was diagnosed with cancer.

Weekend events
A most successful fishing competition took place at Hibberdene over the weekend and your scribe hopes to have more information about this in next week’s Bonus. Mtwalume’s flea and craft market held last Saturday was very well supported and a great time was had by all who attended. The weather, too, was absolutely glorious.
‘Winter Warmth’ Project
Don’t forget to rummage through the cupboards for both the Methodist Church and the Lions Club of Hibberdene, who are appealing for blankets, jerseys, tracksuits, and any other warm clothes. All donations may be handed in at the church or to Lions at the clinic.
Youth camp
Here is a special message for young people from grades 6 to 12: The Methodist Churches on the lower South Coast are pleased to announce that their sixth Winter Camp will be held at Silver Oaks Retreat Centre, Marina Beach, from June 23 to 27, a period of four nights.
This promises an exciting time, whereby boys and girls will be given a holiday, good food, entertainment, fun and a meaningful spiritual programme by a very experienced leadership team.
Your contact in Hibberdene is Ken Walker at 082 3790656 or the church office at 039 6992948.
Clinic date
The next eye clinic is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, from noon.
Jumble sale
Diarise the Methodist Church’s ‘Lady Bugs’ jumble sale in the parking area above Pick n Pay from 9am onwards on Saturday, June 2. They would appreciate any donations of second-hand clothing or household goods.
It was good to see Nancy Allan up and about again after a bout of illness lasting a couple of months. She is wished well, as is Barry Jones, back in hospital after being discharged briefly.

Bianca (24), Bridget (20), great-granddaughter Leonie (7) and friend Heidi Marais (28) from Cape Town spent the weekend in Hibberdene and were spoiled with beautiful beach weather. And last but not least, happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers for this Sunday – Hopefully they all get spoiled rotten and have a wonderful day.
