WATCH: Three metre African rock python caught in Palm View
The residents can now sleep in peace, knowing the snake has been safely bagged.
THREE months ago, a resident of Swallow Drive, in Palm View on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast spotted an African rock python in the area.
Snake catcher Sarel van der Merwe was contacted and he came and searched the area. But to no avail. No snake could be found.
Despite this, or because of this, residents kept a cautious lookout for the monster snake.
It was finally spotted in a tree and Sarel was called in again yesterday.
The snake was caught, with the night-time darkness not impeding Sarel’s successful search and safe capture of the majestic reptile.

He pulled off the catch in front of a crowd of anxious onlookers, who were very pleased and grateful that a man of his skill was available to secure the snake unharmed.
