Calling all blood donors: stocks are critically low
If you are able to donate blood, please do so as soon as you can.
With blood supply in KwaZulu-Natal running out, the South African Blood Services (SANBS) is calling all KZN blood donors to step forward urgently.

SANBS regional marketing manager, Sifiso Khoza, said the blood stock in KZN is dangerously low. They don’t have enough blood to last for a day. They are currently at 0.9, which is 177 units of blood and SANBS needs all blood groups to boost the stock.
“As much as we need all blood types, blood group O is in demand as it is universal and can be given to all patients in need. The situation is critical. We are appealing to everyone – active donors, potential donors and lapsed donors – to help to bolster the regional blood stock,” he said.
He added that, if you are able to donate blood, you should please do so as soon as possible.
