Sheppie Snippets: Local branch celebrates 25 years

The event will be held this Sunday.

The Saiva Vazhipatu Kazhagam of South Africa, Port Shepstone branch, invites everyone to its 25th anniversary commemoration to be held at the Port Shepstone Arya Samaj Hall this Sunday, May 27 at 1.45pm for 2pm. Keynote speaker is Thiru D Maduray, president of the World Saiva Council (SA branch).

Thunee compo

Another nail-biting Thuneee Classic Challenge is set to be played at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort this Saturday, May 26 from midday. Cost is R200 per team. With R20 000 up for grabs, some 200 thunee gurus are set to take part in the tournament which attracts players from as far as Johannesburg, Chatsworth and Phoenix, as well as local players. To start off the tournament a Bhangra and Old School classics evening will be held at Chico’s buffet restaurant on Friday at R150 per person. Volleyball tournament

The inaugural Nanda Moodley Memorial Volleyball Cup in honour the late businessman and philanthropist, Nanda Moodley, will be held at the Marburg Volleyball Complex this Saturday, May 26.

The public tournament is open to all local players, social teams, novice volleyball enthusiasts, business houses, religious, cultural and educational organisations.

Entry fee is R200 per team and team registrations commence at 1pm to 1.30pm. Lots of prizes to be won. For further information contact Jason Govender at 084 250 8875.

Golf day

Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society will host its first golf day at the Port Shepstone Country Club this Sunday, May 27 from 9am.

This event is being held to raise much-needed funds for the construction of a priest’s home and a temple hall. The golf tournament is being coordinated by Pro-Vision Golf and Social Club.

Tee off time is 9am for a shotgun start. There are fantastic prizes to be won. The temple is requesting any contribution in cash or kind. Direct contributions can be made into account; Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society, account number 033765227, Standard Bank branch code 051001.

Matric reunion
