Margate Moves: Honesty still is alive and well – and much appreciated!

Grateful thanks goes to the honest person who handed in the wallet with the phone.

During the recent South Coast Bike Festival, your scribe’s great-granddaughter and her friends from Durban attended a concert at the main stage at Margate beach.

From there they went to Backline Club, where one of the friends took off her jacket and tied it around her waist. However, she forgot that her wallet with her mobile phone was in the pocket and it fell out.

She was totally devastated as “her life” was in the pretty flower-covered wallet. She managed to get a number to call the manager at the club who to her delight told her the wallet had been handed in and was locked in his office. Grateful thanks goes to the honest person who handed in the wallet with the phone.

Grey matter matters

If it is the last Friday of the month it is time to socialise and put on your thinking caps.

Ramsgate Lions Club invites everyone to its month-end braai and quiz night.

It takes place at the Community Centre in Glenmarkie Road (old bowling club) tonight, Friday (25th) from 6pm. Take along some meat for the braai (fires are provided), salads are on sale at R30 per person and there is a cash bar available.

After everyone has enjoyed a good supper and socialising it is time for the quiz. Teams comprising four people then put their general knowledge to the test to win prizes. It costs R10 per entrant.
