WATER CRISIS: Monday morning update from Ugu
This is the latest on the water situation.

WATER SERVICES MORNING UPDATE: 04/06/18
“UMTHAMVUNA SYSTEM:
Please note that after Umthamvuna system was attended to yesterday, we were able to direct water to reservoirs supplied by this system. Some areas from Southbroom to Port Edward are already receiving water while high lying areas will get water as the day progresses.
Inland areas such as Kwanzimakwe, Ezinqoleni, Kwaxolo, Gcilima, Thelawayeka, Mvuntshini, Shobamdlanzi, Mbecuka, Florida, Nodalane, Shobeni and Mlazane areas should be getting water soon as well.

SOUTHERN SYSTEM:
It seems some of the areas that were restored yesterday have gone off again but we are working to bring those areas back online. The Southern System is currently down which has interrupted supply in Shelly Beach, Manaba, Ramsgate, Nositha, KwaMaladla, Olso Beach and Marburg.
NORTH PORT SHEPSTONE:
Areas from Protea Park, Albersville, Location 7, Southport, Pumula through to Hibberdene are still affected and technicians are working on reopening supply.
Please be assured that we are trying our best to restore water supply and are working day and night together with some communities to resolve this matter.”

WATER SERVICES AFTERNOON UPDATE: 02/06/18
MARBURG:
We gave been able to restore outstanding areas in Marburg. The community must give an allowance if two hours for complete restoration. If water is not back by then, kindly advise and give street name for technicians to respond.
Most communities have been restored in Uvongo, Manaba.. If supply is not restored in your area please advise and give street name..
SHELLY BEACH:
Some roads are loosing pressure. Technicians investigating..
PROTEA PARK:
Please note that we are aware that supply in Protea Park is interrupted. We working on it to restore as soon as possible.
IZOTSHA:
Please be informed that the repairs of the Izotsha line have been completed. This will allow faster build up of the Margate Reservoir and reinstate supply supply in the southern areas.
RAMSGATE:
Please note that there is a major break in Ramsgate which is currently undergoing repairs. Estimated completion time is in the next three hours.
BOBOYI:
Break at ABC.. Technicians are on site and also waiting for TLB for repairs.
UVONGO:
Break in Uvongo – contractor onsite conducting repairs.
NORTHERN SYSTEM:
Please not that some parts Umtentweni to Hibberdene are still offline. Technicians working to restore supply.
SOUTHPORT:
This area is affected and a closed valve is suspected which technicians will attend to.
UMTHAMVUNA SYSTEM:
The low lift pump on this system is not working which has reduced production. These areas remain affected Shobeni, Shobamdlazi, Mbeni, Goqoza, Izingolweni, Nodalane, Gcilima, Mvutshini and KwaXolo.

“Work is continuing to restore supply in the affected areas.. We were able to repair the extensive damage on the pipe at Izotsha and we working on getting water to the South which include the areas of Margate, Ramsgate, Nositha and Izotsha amongst others.

SHELLY BEACH:
Some areas of this suburb have been restored and we are working towards full restoration.
UMTHAMVUNA SYSTEM:
These areas are currently affected: Shobeni, Shobamdlazi, Mbeni, Goqoza, Izingolweni, Nodalane, Gcilima, Mvutshini and KwaXolo.
NORTH PORT SHEPSTONE:
Areas from Umtentweni to Hibberdene, Murchison and Bhobhoyi are still remain affected. Reservoirs are slowly building up. In the interim static tanks have been provided for relief supply.
MASINENGE SYSTEM:
Merlewood, Mkholombe and parts of Bhobhoyi have no supply due to low reservoir levels.
A few trucks are currently replenishing all depleted tanks.”
