Margate Tourism Committee and Margate Ratepayers’ and Residents’ Association (MRRA) member Stephen Herbst said that they had attended many meetings regarding the future of Margate, and although the actual plan would be presented within two weeks, they have noticed that society is really starting to stand together.

“We, as the MRRA, with a few key role players, hosted a very nice get-together for local security personnel, Saps and municipal law enforcement officers,” explained Mr Herbst.

The officers were presented with certificates from the MRRA for their sterling efforts over the last few months, but especially during the festival.

Receiving awards are Grant Maher (right) of Wolf Security and Colonel Alan Granger and Warrant Officer Michelle McLeod.

“Thank you for putting your community that you serve above your family. It is officers like you who will do anything to protect the community,” added Mr Herbst.
