Sibusiso Vanda (46) died at Murchison Hospital on Tuesday night after battling illness.
Cllr Vanda was a Gamalakhe Ward 28 councillor who won a by-election in October last year.

The by-election was held after the death of then councillor, Andile Mncube, who had also died from illness.
This makes Cllr Vanda the fifth Ray Nkonyeni Muncipality councillor to die in less than two years.
* PR councillor Thembinkosi Zoleka died in November 2016;
* KwaNzimakwe Ward 28 councillor Andile Mkhize died in June 2017;
* Gamalakhe Ward 28 councillor Andile Mncube died in July 2017;
* ANC Chief Whip Zithulele Gilbert Maphumulo died in February 2018;
Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Speaker, Councillor Doctor Njoko said he was saddened by the death of Cllr Vanda.
“He had a very bright future ahead of him. My condolences to the entire RNM council.”
Local ANC spokesman, Selvan Chetty described Cllr Vanda as a good leader who was well-disciplined.
