The multi million rand project, which started in September 2014, has had several hiccups and challenges, reportedly due to finances.
The project was expected to be completed by the end of June, with the client occupying the buildings on July 2 but the department has been forced to change the dates.
According to the department’s national spokesman, Thamsanqa Mchunu, the department has placed penalties for the contractor.
The department has also approved extensions to the completion time frames to enable the contractor to complete the work.
“As a department, we will only know the revised completion date once the contractor has submitted his revised construction programme,” said Mr Mchunu.
