Child Welfare scores big, thanks to deep pockets and kind hearts

A whopping R26 000 was raised, thanks to the generosity of The Bed Shop and Margate Country Club.

Child Welfare, Port Shepstone was blessed with a generous donation last week.

Craig van Schalkwyk of The Bed Shop in Manaba donated a bed as a raffle prize at the annual Margate Challenge, sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach, and played at Margate Country Club.

Additional prizes,  donated by the Margate Country Club Pro-Shop, were auctioned off on the last day of the three-day golf challenge.

A whopping R26 000 was raised, thanks to the generosity of The Bed Shop and Margate Country Club.

“I was blown away by the support of the community, I had no words on the evening when I realised we had managed to raise this sum of money for Child Welfare,” said Craig.

Samantha Podmore of Child Welfare thanked everyone involved.

“This donation will make a big difference in our projects; and will help a lot with uniforms, stationery and even therapy for the children,” she said.

“We are not government funded and for everything we do, we have to raise the money ourselves.”
