The festival will centre around Mattison Square, just north of Port Edward, with Mac Banana holding a Portuguese Food and Wine Tasting on Saturday and Port Edward Holiday Resort hosting the Sardine MTB Race and Trail Run on Sunday.
There will be an auction during the Saturday evening supper theatre at Mattison Square, proceeds from which will go towards the upgrade of the Portuguese monument overlooking Silver Beach, which commemorates the Sao Joao, which sank just offshore in 1552.
Also on Saturday, a feast of festival entertainment will be provided by deejay Riaan Brits and emcee Eddie George, fire dancers, live music performers, The Gentry and more at Mac Banana Lifestyle Centre.
The MTB Race and Trail Run takes place from the grounds of Port Edward Holiday Resort on Sunday.
Festival organiser, Mark Levine said that this first ever community- and family-inspired festival is set to become an annual calendar highlight. “It will not only celebrate the picturesque destination and everything that it has to offer; it is also aimed at introducing these experiences to visitors,” he said.
