Sultans swing into knockout stage
Matches were played at Port Shepstone CC and borough ground.
The pool stage of the Southern KZN Autumn 100 cricket tournament came to a dramatic conclusion on Sunday, with Harding Sultans pulling off victory in two closely contested matches.
They did just enough to edge out Challengers for the fourth spot in Pool B and now have the opportunity to play the formidable Port Shepstone CC in the quarter-finals.
Ramzan was the hero for Sultans against Punjab, taking a hat-trick and then striking two crucial boundaries (batting at 10) to see them over the line.
There was some exciting cricket elsewhere, with Sachin ‘I don’t play much’ Kalkapersad casually clobbering his way to a 42-ball century against Port Edward Warriors.
Ashley Lombard joined him, giving the fielders in the car park and on the golf course some practice with 56* off 17 balls.
Ahmed Nakhuda starred with bat and ball for Trophy Fighters against Vikings, while Ayoob Ebrahim batted well for Challengers in a losing cause.
Talha Mansoor found top gear to score a well played half-century for Knockouts.
